Bright eyes were THE thing on the S/S runways, and why not? It adds to the eccentricity of the season and the neutral-than-neon pattern. In are beige and gray handbags, tons of white and semi-structured separates. So why not contrast the plain with color? All of this said, wearing bright shadow or eyeliner is a lot easier in theory. We don’t all have the gorgeous wide set eyes of Stam or the mad skills of Pat McGrath at our fingertips. Time is so limited in my schedule and while I want to walk out of the house looking the best that I can, I'm usually running out the door trying to get to the next place I need to be. Product Review: Nicole by OPI Nic’s Sticks

OK, so Nic’s Sticks have caused quite the buzz in the beauty world and beyond in the past few months. The convenient little tubes even made their way onto Oprah during her Favorite Things for Summer episode last month. Before Oprah, and before the buzz, I wanted to try them out because they claim to make it easier for those of us who are polish-impaired, to paint our nails. I am horrible at painting my own nails, and I always have been. If you had footage of me trying to do this when I was 12 and fast forwarded to me now, I would probably do just as badly. MAC Cosmetics - Cool Heat Collection

Cool Heat is the latest semi-collection to launch this summer in the world of MAC. It doesn’t seem to be as big of a hit as Neo Sci-Fi and I’m blaming that on the fact that we’re all a sucker for limited edition packaging. There are three products in the collection, but most are re-releases of past items that did well. Slimshine Lipstick was a hit when it launched several months ago, and the new colors are succulent enough to get you through summer with just a bit of bronzer and plumped-up lashes. My favorite is Swelter, which is a blue-based red that is sheer to begin with (as all Slimshines are) and intensifies when layered. MAC’s Tendertones collection launches a handful of new colors for the cult product. If you haven’t given Tendertones a whirl, know it’s a super supple lip gloss that has a hint of color and loads of moisture, perfect for sticky summer days. I’m a huge fan of Lipglass for the way it makes my lips look...not so much how it makes them feel. I’m definitely not a fan of my hair sticking to my lips as I run to catch the bus, or attempt to look cool while waiting in line outside a concert. The other great thing about Tendertones is that it doesn’t feel like you’re wearing anything on your lips at all. Product Review: Clarins Wonder Lash

I must admit I was a little skeptical about trying mint green mascara. I mean, I love the 80’s craze and all, but this seemed to be taking it a little too far. After receiving so much positive feedback though, I decided to dole out the $23.50 to cop myself my very own tube of Clarin’s Mint Green Mascara. Well, low and behold, I found a new love. This mascara will take a 25 minute morning make-up routine and turn it into 5 minutes. Apply some of this stuff and you’ll literally look like you have the perfect amount of shadow and liner on. MAC Cosmetics - Naughty Nauticals Collection

One of the latest collections from MAC Cosmetics is Naughty Nauticals, a blend of blues for the eyes and reds for the lips, just like a naughty pin-up girl. The standout piece from this run is Port Red, an almost-neutral red that works with any skin tone. I’ve seen it on girls of every ethnicity, and it looks amazing with an otherwise bare face. MAC’s classic Red Russian can be a little too red for some complexions, and also bring out the yellow in an olive complexion, but Port Red does just the opposite. Because it’s blue-based without being bright, it simply highlights the warm tone in any complexion. Product Review: Bumble & Bumble Hair Powder

A few years ago when I discovered Bumble & Bumble Hair Powder, I thought I’d found my wonder product. The then-version of the product was in a white bottle, with a small spout up top that allowed you to disperse the powder at your own will by squeezing the bottle. This ended up in a cloudy bathroom the first two tries, but after that I got the hang of it, and knew how much (or how little) I needed, depending on how dirty my hair was. I got several people hooked on the product, including my own mother, and since the stuff costs $35 a bottle, you know it must be good, if my mom will pay for that.
